Ruth’s music is enjoyed by fans of singer-songwriters like Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Tracy Chapman and Suzanne Vega.
I have the originals of most and heard all of these songs. Ruth covers them beautifully. Piano and Acoustic Guitar played delicately and Ruth's vocals suit every song, gentle on some and soaring on others, Every Time We Say Goodbye moved me to tears. Ruth's singing and playing is very emotional as I've found on all of her albums. 'Covers' is a triumph. I always buy the Deluxe Editions as I love the signed art cards and fridge magnets. And I'm listening again as I do this review, it's a really wonderful CD, but anyone who's familiar with Ruth's works know that...
Have listened to this on repeat since it arrived thru the letterbox, So many beautiful songs done in Ruth's inimitable style. Her voice not only oozes with emotion as she sings but you would think that the songs were written for her, her performance is exceptional. A superb vocal is backed by the understated piano/guitar played by Ruth herself. My new favourite album.
