'Somehow' is an album filled with emotions, played and sung in a way you may be familiar with from artists such as Joni Mitchell, Carole King or even Sandy Denny but Ruth Nina Welsh is a unique artist with her own voice and style of playing, Ruth conveys emotion you can feel as well as hear. 10/10.
Track-wise Ruth's piano and acoustic guitar playing are what I call clean/clear and her vocals are beautiful. The title track and 'No Tears Left To Fall' are 2 of my favourite tracks ever by a Female Singer-Songwriter.The closing track Home [Piano Solo] i describe as Solemnity and Emotionality, again this is one of my favourite piano pieces of all time and I've heard hundreds. Also the deluxe package is wonderful, Art Cards are all hand signed by Ruth and the fridge magnets stay firmly on and a lovely inspirational message card from 'Hope Is Alive' with a personal message from Ruth make it really special, there is more of a connection with the artist. I would also say that listening on a Hi-Fi System is far superior to computer hearing and especially on headphones, 'Somehow' - I Loved/Love it.
Been listening to this album on night runs for a while and I love it. Take Care is especially poignant. This latest, hopefully not the last, album is excellent for those times when you are a bit stressed. Let this album take you to a peaceful place. Take care, Bob💖😏🚛🏍
Loved Ruth's previous work and so had no worry about pre-ordering this package. I was immediately blown away by some of the songs but as is usual with much meaningful music, the rest slowly grew on me after just a few plays and now they are giving me so much pleasue as I listen, it is an album which richly repays gettiing to know the music intimately. Ruths songs are woven with true professionalism; being sung with so much feeling and emotional content.
The package of goodies and photographic memorabillia are a real bonus for any fan of this wonderful singer songwwriter.
